Speaking on the condolence motion, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina elaborated the works of her life and offered sympathies to the bereaved family.
She said that she had a very good relationship with the family of Roshema, whom she described as a “devoted person, polite, with soft spoken personality”.
“She led a very simple life and had no demand for her own,” she said. “She worked for Boat (AL’s electoral symbol) during the election and I made her a reserved seat MP at the advice of Rehana.”
Speaking about Roshema's speech in Parliament on budget, the Prime Minister said that she told the real history of the county.
“It was a scope for us to know the real history, especially she gave befitting reply to those who are involved in tampering with history,” she said.
She noted that Roshema mentioned the proclamation of independence by Bangabandhu in a pre-planned way through the then EPR wireless.
Roshema Imam in her speech presented that history. “And I think that after her speech nobody should have any confusion about the proclamation of independence,” she said.
The leader of the House mentioned that the whole Parliament on that day had listened to her overwhelmingly.
She also asked the MPs to read her speech.
Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury moved the condolence motion in the House at the beginning of the day's business.
Deputy Opposition Leader Raushon Ershad, ruling party MP Amir Hossain Amu, Tofail Ahmed, Matia Chowdhury, Mohammad Nasim and opposition chief whip Mashiur Rahman Ranga also spoke.
A munajat seeking the eternal peace of the departed souls was offered in the House. Bazlul Huq Harun conducted the munajat.
The members of the House also stood up and observed a minute’s silence to pay respect to the memories of the deceased.
After the condolence motion, the House was adjourned as per the customs to show respect to the deceased.
