A man who attempted to take is life after allegedly murdering his two daughters in Patia on Wednesday, died at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Mukhendu Barua.
Quoting locals, Borhan Uddin, officer-in-charge of Patia Police Station, said Mukhendu used to live in Dhaka while his two daughters stayed at their maternal grandfather’s house after the demise of their mother.
He went to his in-law’s house two months back due to coronavirus situation.
He strangled his two daughters Tuku Barua, 14, and Nishu Barua,11, to death sometime in the night and swallowed poison in a bid to kill himself, the policeman said.
Later, police rescued him and took him to the hospital where he died today.
The reason behind the incident could not be known.
