The national coloured booter of Bashundhara Kings Masuk Miah Zoni was seriously injured during a FIFA World Cup Qatar'2022 and AFC Asian Cup China'2023 Joints Qualification match between Bangladesh national and Afghanistan national team held in Tajikistan on September 10 last year.
For the incident, Masuk Miah Zoni's club Bashundhara Kings was deprived of his service and the club also suffered huge losses in absence of their vital player.
In this circumstances, Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) on be half of the Kings appealed to the FIFA Club Protection Scheme for financial support against the losses of the club and the FIFA provided the aforesaid amount in few installments, which was already deposited to the club account, said BFF media released on Tuesday (July 21).
Meanwhile, Bangladesh champions Bashundhara Kings was placed in four- team Group E of the AFC Cup with TC Sports and Maziya S&RC of the Maldives, and Chennai City FC of India.
In the remaining five group matches to be held in the Maldives, Bashundhara Kings will play Maziya S&RC on October 23, Chennai City FC on Oct 26, again Chennai City FC on Oct 29, TC Sports on Nov 01 and Maziya S&RC on Nov 4.
The BPL champions Bashundhara Kings are on the top of the Group E after their 5-1 victory over the Maldivian club TC Sports in the first match held at the Bangabanbhu National Stadium in Dhaka on March 11.
Chennai City FC of India and Maziya S&RC of the Maldives shared the 2nd slot jointly following a 2-2 draw between the two teams that played in Chennai, also on March 11.
Top team of the group will qualify for the inter-zone playoff semifinals.
The final of the tournament will be played on December 12 but the venue of which is yet to be finalised.
