At the lunch break of day four, Bangladesh were 30 without any wicket in 9 overs. Liton Das and Shadman Islam were batting for 9 and 21 respectively.
The play of day four was delayed due to rain in the morning and the match started at 11:50am, two and a half hours behind schedule.
Earlier, Afghanistan stretched their lead to 397 runs to set a challenging target of 398 for the Tigers in the one-off Test.
The touring side had a first innings lead of 137 runs but they were all-out for 260 in their second innings.
For Bangladesh, Shakib took three wickets while Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taijul Islam and Nayeem Hasan bagged two wickets each.
In the first innings of the match, Afghanistan scored 342 after winning the toss with Rahmat Shah hitting the maiden Test ton for them and Asghar Afghan scoring 92.
For Bangladesh, Taijul Islam bagged four wickets while Shakib Al Hasan and Nayeem Hasan took two each.
In reply, Bangladesh tumbled for 205 in their first innings. Mominul Haque hit a fifty but the other batsmen did not perform well.
Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan bagged five wickets while Mohammad Nabi took three.
