Nazim Uddin Ahmed, Managing Director of Dhaka Ice Cream Industries Ltd. also the tournament sponsor will inaugurate the meet Thursday noon.
On opening day (Thursday), Dhanmondi Tutorial will take on Heed International School in the girls’ competition at 9 am while St. Gregory's School to play Heed International School boys opening match at 2 pm.
A total of 37 school handball teams -- 19 boys and 18 girls -- will compete in the meet, organised by Bangladesh Handball Federation (BHF) and sponsored by Dhaka Ice Cream Industries Ltd.
The finals of both boys and girls competition will be held on September 25 at the same venue.
Acting General Secretary of Bangladesh Handball Federation (BHF) SM Khalequzzaman Shawpan disclosed the details of the meet at a press conference at the federation office on Tuesday.
BHF Vice President and Chairman of the Tournament Committee Golam Habib, Secretary of the Tournament Committee (Boys) Salim Mia Babu, Secretary of Girls Tournament committee Parvin Putul and Marketing Manager of Polar Ice Cream Abdullah Al Mamun also spoke on the occasion.
The champions, runners-up and the best players of both the boys and girls groups will be awarded.
Of the total budget Tk 13,31,450, tournament sponsor Polar Ice Cream will provide Tk 13, 20,000 for the event.
