They would have scored more but Andre Russell took a hat-trick in the final over of the Bangladesh Premier League game.
In the first ball of the last over, Russell trapped Mushfiqur Rahim with a low full toss delivery. Mushfiqur tried to clear it through long-on but failed to execute it properly. He skied the ball and Shuvagata Hom took an easy catch. In the next delivery, Cameron Delport, batting at 71 off 57, lofted the ball to long-on and Shuvagata took another catch.
Russell completed his hat-trick taking Dasun Shanaka’s wicket. The Sri Lankan gave a catch to short-leg and Mizanur Rahman did not fail to pick it up. In the last three balls, Vikings scored seven runs with a last-ball six by Sikandar Raza.
Vikings had a good start after winning the toss and deciding to bat first. Mohammad Shahzad and Cameron Delport put a 42-runs stand in the opening partnership. Shahzad fell for 21.
In the second wicket stand, Delport and Yasir Ali added 46 runs. But Yasir fell prey to Sunil Narine after scoring 19 off 20 balls. However, in the third wicket stand, Delport and Mushfiqur put up 79 runs before Russell’s hat-trick. Mushfiqur scored 43 off 24 with four fours and two sixes.
