28-year-old farmer commits suicide in Barishal
A 28-year-old man allegedly ended his life over a family feud in Uzirpur upazila of Barishal on Saturday.
The deceased Rajib, from Atipara village of the upazila, was a farmer by profession.
Deceased’s brother Sakibur Rahman said that Rajib and his wife had an altercation over a trivial matter on Friday morning. Rajib's wife went to her father's house following the incident.
On Friday night, Rajib took his dinner and slept in his bedroom.

On Saturday morning, his family members called him several times. As he did not respond, they broke the door of Rajib’s bedroom and found him hanging from the ceiling and informed the police.
On information, police visited the spot and handed over the body to his family as no complaint was received, said Ali Arshad, officer-in-charge of Uzirpur model police station.
Pregnant housewife tries to commit suicide
A 3-month pregnant housewife reportedly tried to commit suicide by setting herself on fire over a family quarrel in the city's Golbagh on Saturday.
The housewife was known as Meem Akhter (18), wife of Rummon. She is a resident at a rented house of Golbagh under Shahjahanpur police station.

The incident took place on Saturday morning. Meem was admitted to the Shiekh Hasina Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute. Police of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital Police Camp detained Meem's husband Rummon from the hospital.
Parveen Akhter, the mother of Meem, told reporters that they got married in love three years ago. Since then, there have been occasional quarrels in their family, due to which Meem tried to commit suicide by drinking Harpic one year ago.
When Meem's mother complained to her daughter's father-in-law about the matter, he said that he didn’t know anything.
Meem's husband Rummon said that he had an altercation with Meem last night. Following last night's quarrel, Meem tried to commit suicide by setting herself on fire by pouring kerosene on her body.
DMCH police camp in-charge Bachchhu Mia said Meem got 95 percent burn injuries.
Woman 'ends life' over family feud
A woman has allegedly committed suicide over a family feud in Chattogram’s Uttar Kattli area.
Deceased Taslima, 22, wife of Kamal Hossain of the area, had a quarrel with his husband on Friday night when she was beaten up, police said.
"Soon after the incident, her husband found her hanging from the ceiling fan," a police officer said.
Neighbours rushed her to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH), where doctors declared her dead on arrival.

Officer-in-charge Sadiqur Rahman of Panchlaish Police Station said that the woman died before she was taken to the hospital.
Her body has been kept in the CMCH morgue, he said.
3 hanging bodies recovered from different parts of Naogaon in 24 hours
Police have recovered the bodies of three persons from Manda upazila of Naogaon in the last 24 hours.
The deceased have been identified as Abdus Samad, 58, of Dakshin Mainam village of Manda upazila, Rabindranath Pike, 66, of Binoy Bazar area of Prasadpur union and Sabbir Hossain, 26, of Chakrajapur village.
Sabina Khatun, daughter of the deceased Abdus Samad, said that after the death of her mother, her father married a woman named Mausumi Khatun. Due to feud, his father divorced her stepmother a few months ago.
On Thursday evening, his father left the house with her sister Samia. Since then, he had been missing. At one stage of the search, his father's body was found hanging from a mango tree in Rubel Hossain's garden near the house at around 3 am, she added.
On the other hand, Rabindranath Pike's son Ratan Pike said that his father Rabindranath had been ill for a long time. At night he used to sleep on the veranda of the house. He has not been seen since 9pm on Thursday. Later, his body was found hanging from a tree in a mango orchard near the house, he added.
Surma Begum, wife of the deceased Sabbir Rahman, said that her husband closed the bedroom in the house on Friday noon. As he did not respond for a long time, the door of the house was broken and his body was found hanging from the fan.
Shahinur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Manda police station said three bodies were recovered within 24 hours in separate incidents and sent to Naogaon Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Three unnatural death cases have been filed at Manda police station in the incident, the OC added.

2 teenage girls ‘commit suicide’ in Pabna
Two 15-year old girls allegedly committed suicide by drinking pesticide in Chatmohar upazila of Pabna on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Juthi Akter,15, daughter of Jillur Hossain from Jayghar village and Shabana Khatun,15, daughter of Shakhawat Hossain from Paikpara village in the upazila, said Shajib Shahrin, Asistant Superintendent of police (Chatmohar circle).
According to the families, Juthi an eighth grader from Handial Girls High School and her friend Shabana, another eight grader from Paikpara Senior Alim Madrasah, bought the pesticide from Handial Bazar while returning home from school and madrasah respectively.

They swallowed the pesticide on their way home and only informed the matter to their families after falling sick later.
One of them died on the way to Pabna Hospital while another died around 8:30 pm at Pabna General Hospital, said their family members.
ASP Shajib Shahrin said the bodies were sent for autopsy.

“The reason behind their suicide could not be known. We are investigating the matter,” he added.
Madrasa girl ‘kills self’ in Chandpur
A teenage madrasa student reportedly committed suicide in Mominbagh area of sadar upazila in Chandpur district Saturday morning.
The deceased was identified as Rina Akter, 14, daughter of Habib Sheikh of the area. She was a student of class IV of a madrasa in Puran Bazar area.
Rina’s aunt Amena Begum said that her mother scolded Rina for not giving attention to her studies.

Being agitated, Rina locked the door of a room and hanged herself from the ceiling with a scarf.
Later, with the help of neighbours, Rina's mother open broke the door of the house and took her to Chandpur Government General Hospital where doctors declared her dead.
A Rashid, officer-in-charge of Chandpur Sadar Model Police Station, said the body has been sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy.
Ctg youth who dreamt of becoming a cricketer commits suicide
An 18-year-old youth, whose dream was to become a cricketer, took his own life at his house in EPZ area of Chattogram, having failed to endure acute poverty.
The deceased was identified as Sagar Majumdar, son of Nayan Majumdar of the city. He was a class XI student of Islamia University College in the city.

Sagar committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of his house in the absence of family members on Thursday night, said police.
Later, he was rushed to Chattogram Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) where the doctor declared him dead around 11pm.
The body was kept in CMCH morgue for an autopsy, Sadekur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Pachlaish police station.
Family sources said Sagar's dream was being a cricketer. But he got mentally ill as his family had to fight with poverty due to his father’s illness.
The OC said they suspect Sagar to have committed suicide. “However, details can be known after an autopsy.”

Suicidal tendency among students
Bangladesh reports 70% more deaths from suicide than Covid-19, according to a recent study by Aachol Foundation, a student oriented non-profit social organization, published on March 14, last year.
Some 61.2 percent of young people, aged 18-25, have been suffering from depression during the pandemic, and among them 3.7 percent have attempted suicide, as per the study.
Youth commits suicide by jumping into Hatirjheel lake
A 24-year-old youth committed suicide by jumping into the lake of Hatirjheel after an altercation with his girlfriend, police said.The deceased was identified as Bozlu Miraj Chowdhury alias Raj, son of late B Zaman Chowdhury hailing from capital's Mirpur, section 12.

Attempted rape victim commits suicide in Bogura: 2 arrested
Police arrested two people including the main accused in a case filed over suicide of an attempted rape victim in Bogura’s Dhunat upazila on Saturday.
The arrestees were identified as Bablu Mia, 40, son of Kanu Sarker from Rudrabaria village and Abu Taher, 50, son of Ali from Koigati village.
Kripa Sindhu, Officer-in-Charge of Dhunat police station said they were arrested after filing a case following the complaint of victim’s father Fazlul Haque accusing some seven people including Bablu on Friday.

Deceased Lipi Khatun, 18, was a resident of Kaigati village of Dhunat upazila and a former student of Jalshuka Habibur Rahman Degree College.
According to the case statement, Babul Mia, of the same village, used to tease Lipi for the past two years.
Lipi’s father complained about this to the village leaders aka Matabbars but they didn’t get any solution.
After the complaint against him, Babul became even more aggressive.
On April 12 morning, when no one was home, Babul with his companion Rafiq went to Lipi's house and tried to rape her. At one point, hearing her scream, neighbors rushed to her room but Babul and Rafiq escaped.

The victim poisoned herself as the incident became a topic of conversation for the locals.
Her relatives first admitted her to Dhunat Upazila Health Complex from where she was shifted to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogura.
On April 13, she was shifted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where she died while undergoing treatment on Thursday.
19-yr-old ends life in Chattogram
A teenager allegedly committed suicide by consuming pesticides at her home in Kurengiri village of Chattogram on Thursday.
The deceased, Sharjina Akter, 19, was the daughter of Mohammad Ali of the village.

Police said that Sharjina ended her life on Wednesday night after her mother scolded her over a family matter.
Sharjina was rushed to Chattogram Medical College and Hospital in a critical condition but was declared dead moments later, said Alauddin Talukder, assistant sub-inspector at the hospital police outpost.
