3 of a family injured in gas pipeline explosion
Three members of a family sustained burns in a fire triggered by a cooking gas pipeline explosion in their flat in old Dhaka in the early hours of Tuesday.
The injured have been identified as Kamal, 35, his wife Selina, 30, and their seven-year-old child Bonya. The three injured are being treated at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.

The explosion occurred around 1.35am at their ground-floor apartment in a five-storey residential building in the Najirabazar area of old Dhaka.
"The explosion led to the collapse of a wall on the floor and damaged walls in adjoining flats. Five units of fire tenders took nearly two and a half hours to douse the flames, said Rafi Al Faruque Duty Officer (media), Fire Service and Civil Defense Headquarters.

Fortunately, other residents of the building are safe, said the fire service official.
Fire at city’s RK Tower doused; 3 burnt
At least three people suffered burn injuries in a fire that broke out at RK Tower, a commercial high-rise building in the city’s Banglamotor, on Saturday.
The injured are Mamun Khan, 31, office assistant, Tafsir Mia, 26, and Manik Fakir, 20, workers of a toy importing company named Rabeya Enterprise in the building.
The fire broke out on the 7th floor of the 10-storey building around 12.15pm and spread soon.
The fire came under control around 2 pm and it was completely doused at 4:20 pm by eight firefighting units, said Rozina Akter,Duty officer of the Dhaka Fire Service and Civil Defense control room.

The injured are currently being treated at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery under Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Injured Mamun suffered 34 per cent burns, Tafsir seven per cent and Manik three percent burns, said SM Ayub Hossain, resident surgeon of the institute.
Injured Manik said we were organising the toys when the fire broke out in the room. He suspected that it originated from an electric short circuit.

Meanwhile, Rozina Akter,Duty officer of Fire service, said the exact cause of the fire will be known after investigation.

A major fire broke out at a highrise commercial building in the Bangla Motor area of Dhaka on Saturday, officials said.
Fortunately, no casualties have been reported.

Duty officer of the Dhaka Fire Service and Civil Defense control room, Rozina Akter, said the fire broke out at the fifth floor of the 10-storey RK Tower around 12.15pm and spread soon.
On information, four fire tenders were rushed to the spot. "We are trying our best to contain the fire," she said. "Only a probe can ascertain the exact cause of the fire."

Fire breaks out at slum in Chattogram
A fire broke out at a slum in the Agrabad DT area of Chattogram port city early on Saturday, officials said.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
The blaze started around 4 am at the slum and spread soon, said Faruk Hossain Shikder, assistant director of Chattogram Fire Service.

On information, six fire tenders rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze around 6 am.

Fire breaks out at Rajbari Jute Mills
A fire broke out at a jute mill in the Aladipur area of Rajbari Sadar upazila early on Friday morning. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
Md Nazrul Islam, assistant director of Faridpur fire service and civil defense, said the blaze started around 6 am in an oil tanker in production unit-1 of Rajbari Jute Mills in the Aladipur area and engulfed other areas of the factory soon.

The first fire tender took nearly two hours to reach the spot and later five more joined in. "The fire was brought under control after another two hours," Nazrul said. "Efforts are now on to fully douse the flames."
However, the mill owner and workers claimed that the fire did not originate from an oil tanker.
Md Salauddin Sheikh, additional police superintendent of Rajbari, said they were working to ensure the safety of the mill workers.

Fire breaks out at Ctg textile recycling godown
A major fire broke out at a textile recycling godown in the Atura Depot area of Chattogram city early on Thursday, officials said.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported.

The blaze started around 8am in the godown and soon spread to four other godowns in the vicinity, said Kapil Uddin of Agrabad Fire Service.
On information, six firefighting units rushed to the spot and are trying to contain the fire.
A probe will ascertain the exact cause of the fire and the extent of damage, the official said.
42-yr-old Narayanganj fire victim dies
A 42-year-old man who sustained burns in a fire triggered by a cooking gas cylinder blast in Narayanganj on Monday, has succumbed to his injuries.
Md Solaiman passed away around 10.30pm Monday at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, said Dr SM Ayub, a resident surgeon.
The fire broke out at Solaiman's house in Kumar Para village of Araihazar upazila in the early hours of Monday, leaving him and his three family members injured.

Solaiman's cousin Yunus said the fire broke out at the one-storey building at the crack of dawn due to a leakage from a gas cylinder.

The injured are businessman Solaiman, 42, his wife Rima Akhter, 31, their son Mahid, 13, and Arash, 3.

Solaiman's cousin, Yunus, said the fire might have broken out at the one-storey building before dawn due to leakage in a gas cylinder.
The injured are being treated at the Sheikh Hasina Burn Institute of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), said Md Bachchu Mia, in-charge inspector of DMCH police outpost.
Rayerbagh coil factory fire under control
A fire that broke out at a coil factory in the capital’s Rayerbagh Kadamtali area early Sunday has been brought under control .The incident occurred at around 1.30 am beside Punam Cinema Hall.

Members of eight fire service units were able to brought the blaze under control at around 3 am. Fire Service and Civil Defense Headquarters Control Room Duty Officer Lima Khanam said no casualties were reported and the cause of the fire could not be known yet.

Munshiganj fire: 36-yr-old father of deceased sisters dies
Another Munshiganj cylinder explosion victim has succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital, officials said.
Kawsar, 36, died at the hospital's Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery on Saturday morning, taking the total number of deaths in the explosion to three.
Kawsar, 36, his wife Shanta, 27, and their two children -- Yeasmin, 6, and Fatema, 3 -- sustained burn injuries in a fire triggered by the cooking gas cylinder blast in their house in the Char Muktarpur area of Munshiganj's Sadar upazila in early on Thursday morning.

The two sisters died of their injuries that night only. Their mother and a neighbour are undergoing treatment at the hospital.
For over eight years, Kawsar, a welder by profession, had been staying in Munshiganj with his family.
Sadar Police Station OC Rajib Khan said, "Prima facie, it seemed to be a cooking gas cylinder explosion. But a CID team is investigating the case," he said.
