Dhaka, Oct 2 (UNB) - Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday phoned Indonesian President Joko Widodo and informed him that Bangladesh is ready to send all sorts of support to tackle the aftermath of the earthquake and tsunami that hit the city of Palu killing 1,347, people.
"Indonesia is not alone…Bangladesh is beside Indonesia at this troubled time," she said while talking to the Indonesian President in the evening.
Hasina called Joko Widodo at about 7pm and talked to him for about 10 minutes, PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim said.
The Prime Minister wanted to know what assistance did Indonesia needs right now.
Hasina expressed deep sorrow and shock at the loss of lives and property due to the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Indonesia.
She expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members and wished the early recovery of the injured.
The 7.5-magnitude quake struck just off the central island of Sulawesi, setting off a tsunami that engulfed the coastal city of Palu on Friday, leaving a trail of destruction.
