3 of a family killed in Tangail road crash
Tangail, Oct 16 (UNB) – Three members of a family were killed after a truck carrying a group of workers plunged into a roadside ditch on Dhaka-Tangail highway in Shubulla area of Mirzapur upazila on Tuesday morning.
The deceased were identified as Niranjan, 30, his wife Sagori and their daughter Swarna, hailing from Joypurhat district.
AKM Abu Kaiser, officer-in-charge of Gorai Highway Police, said the accident took place when a Joypurhat-bound truck carrying around 30 workers from Chandra plunged into the ditch after its driver lost control over the steering, leaving the trio dead on the spot and injuring 21 others.
The injured were admitted to different hospitals of the upazila.

Training on food adulteration prevention held at IU
Islamic University, Oct 15 (UNB) – A training on ‘Food adulteration prevention and consumer rights’ was held on the university campus in Kushtia on Monday.
IU unit of Consumer Youth Bangladesh (CYB) organised the programme on the occasion of World Food Day-2018 at Birshrestha Hamidur Rahman Auditorium of the university.
IU Vice-Chancellor Professor, M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari addressed the programme as chief guest while Pro-VC Professor, M Shahinoor Rahman and Treasurer Professor M Selim Toha spoke as the special guests.
While addressing the programme, the speakers shed lights on the reason of food adulteration and discussed the ways to eliminate the problem.
Around two hundred teachers and students from different departments took part in the training.
