The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is a youth awards programme founded in the United Kingdom in 1956 by Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, that has since expanded to 144 nations. The awards recognise adolescents and young adults for completing a series of self-improvement exercises
Director of Student Counseling & Guidance Office of DU Prof. Mahjabeen Haque presided over the program while Secretary General of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation John May addressed it as the guest of honor.
Chairman of Board of Trustees of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation A K Shamsuddin Khan, Member Rizwan Bin Farouq and Award Leader Mizanur Rahman also addressed the program.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman said DU students have been highly benefited and encouraged by this program of Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation.
"This award program is playing an important role to develop communication and management skills as well as behavior and attitude of the students," he added.
