“We have set our goal for ICT division...As per our Prime Minister directives, ICT industry will contribute up to five percent of the GDP in 2021. Also we will be able to create employment for two million youth within five years,” he said.
He was speaking at a seminar titled ‘Digital Bangladesh: Opportunities and Challenges for Viet Nam and Bangladesh’ jointly arranged by Embassy of Vietnam and Better Bangladesh Foundation at Westin Hotel in city.
Zunaid Ahmed Palak mentioned that Bangladesh government is always ready to help Vietnam ICT sector.
He also highlighted the government’s achievements in country’s ICT division.
“Currently we export to ICT sectors of 40 different countries. Bangladesh has a local market of ICT products worth $1 billion...we shall have export business of $5billion by 2021,” he said.
State Minister further said digital technology is playing a vital role to reduce corruption.
Ambassador of Vietnam to Bangladesh Tran Van Khoa said relationship between Bangladesh and Vietnam is more than just trade partners.
“Bangladeshi ICT sector is a great investment opportunity for Vietnamese businessmen,” he added.
