Chattogram, Apr 8 (UNB) –Customs intelligence officials recovered 200 gold bars, weighing a combined 23kg and worth Tk 12 crore, from an aircraft at Shah Amanat International Airport here early Monday.
Dr Shahidul Islam, director general of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate, said a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines BG-128 landed at the airport around 6:05 am. The flight number belongs to the Abu Dhabi
Tipped off, a team of CIID officials conducted a search operation in the aircraft and found the gold bars in the two toilets of the aircraft, kept tactfully.
Later, a team of CIID took possession of the gold, recovering a total of 200 bars each weighing 115gold bars around 10:30 am.
