“I know contesting this election is not easy for her as it is her first time. I want to cooperate,” the incumbent MP told a press conference at Khilgaon Sabuj Moti Bhaban in the city.
He condemned Tuesday’s attack on Afroza’s procession in South Goran. “I do not want to play blame game. I want a fair investigation into such incidents,” he said.
The convoy of BNP’s Dhaka-9 candidate was reportedly attacked twice at Kamalapur and Madartek on December 12. Afroza’s media coordinator Nahid Nurul blamed ruling party activists for the incidents.
Her campaign was also attacked in South Goran a week later. She alleged that the activists of Awami League and its front organisations were involved.
Clarifying his stance on the matter, Saber said: “I do not believe in terrorism and violence. What I want is equal opportunity for all candidates contesting the election.”
