The education minister alleged that educational institutions were included in the MPO system in the past without any quality assessment.
He came up with the remarks in Parliament while taking part in the cut-motion on allocation for fund under the appropriation bill of 2019-20 fiscal where 10 members of BNP and Jatiya Party MPs protested her demand of allocation of Tk 29624.90 crore for the next fiscal year.
She accused Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP)-led governments of committing such irregularities in the MPO process in the past.
“BNP and Jatiya Party had been in power for a long time. We witnessed the misuse of power during their regimes. We’re aware about the allocation, quality of education and quality of educational institutions at that time,” Dipu Moni said.
During the BNP regime, she mentioned, unnecessary numbers of educational institutions were included in the MPO list by their ministers.
“As a result, the then BNP government felt the necessity of the re-examination of the quality of the educational institutions listed under MPO,” she said.
