The daylong programme was inaugurated by DU Vice-chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman at 10 am, while former finance minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith was presented as the chief guest.
The DU VC in his speech said that the university always played vital role for the country and the nation. “Whenever any crises appear, teachers and students of the institution take the lead to address those,” he said.
In his speech Abul Maal Abdul Muhith said, “The birth of Bangladesh as an independent country is connected with this university. The contribution of the students and teachers of this university will never be forgotten. It’s is a living legend in the history of Bangladesh.”
Presided over by DU alumni association president AK Azad, former vice-president of DUCSU Tofail Ahmed, DU alumni association former president President Syed Manzur Elahi and its general secretary Ranjan Karmakar addressed the inaugural session.
DU Pro-VC (Academic) Prof. Dr. Nasreen Ahmad, Pro-VC (Administration) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Samad, Former DU VCs, cabinet members, members of the parliament, judges, VCs of different universities of the country, politicians, Sadhinata Padak and Ekushey Padak winners, cultural activists and senior officials of the government and non-government organizations, among others, were also presented at the program.
