He made the call when a 10-member delegation of Supreme Court judges, led by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, submitted the SC Annual Report-2018 to him at Bangabhaban in the afternoon.
The President expressed his satisfaction over the whole activities of the country’s apex court, said President's Press Secretary Joynal Abedin while briefing reporters after the meeting.
The SC delegation apprised the President of different aspects of the report.
Lauding different initiatives taken by the SC to make its overall activities more vibrant, the Chief Justice informed the President that necessary directives have been issued for arranging court sittings in the evening for quick disposal of cases.
He also said necessary steps have been taken to clear backlog of cases with a special priority to cases that have been pending for over five years.
The President thanked the Chief Justice and other delegation members for submitting the report.
The delegation members included Justice Muhammad Imman Ali, Justice Mirza Hussain Haider, Justice Tariq ul Hakim, Justice Salma Masud Chowdhury, Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed, Justice Md Ashfaqul Islam, Justice Moyeenul Islam Chowdhury, Justice Obaidul Hassan and Justice Naima Haider.
Secretaries concerned to the President office were, among others, present there.
