Dr Mizanur Rahman Fakir, associate professor and chairman of Dhaka University’s oriental art department, attended the programme as the chief guest and head judge.
Before the event, a seminar was held on the significance of calligraphy.
The competition featured two separate divisions - group A for children and group B for adults. Around a hundred competitors from all over the country participated in the competition.
Hafsa Binte Nisar, Samsunnahar Tasnim and Radiya Rini won the top three prizes respectively in group A. Zaynul Abedin, Mahmudul Hasan and Tahmina Binte Kabir won the top three spots respectively in group B.
The winners were given crests, certificates and cash prizes. Also, 10 special prizes were awarded to the top contestants from both groups.
The programme was hosted by Bangladesh Charu Shilpi Parishad’s President Ibrahim Mandal. Bangladesh Cultural Academy’s Chairman Sharif Bayzid Mahmud and cultural organiser Zakiul Haque Zaki, along with media personality Mahbub Mukul were present as special guests.
