Dhaka, Feb 25 (UNB)-Japanese Embassy in Bangladesh on Monday organised a lecture on Japanese medieval art and culture to promote cultural ties between thre two countries at Dhaka University (DU) Institute of modern language (IML) auditorium.
Ms. Maya Kazi, a television personality and essayist of Japanese-Bangladeshi origin as “Supporter for Cultural Exchanges of Embassy of Japan in Bangladesh” discussed on Japanese arts and culture in medieval (Edo) era displaying a number of paintings which represent Japanese culture and society.
Ms. Maya illustrated medieval Japanese paintings by showing woodblock print and brush print painting which were painted in medieval period based on lifestyle and society.
She also displayed photography on Japanese cultural festival including Yosakoi festival, Tenjin festival, Aoi fest, Naha Haril Dragon boat dance, among others.
"I hope Bangladeshi Students will be eager to know Japanese culture to make strong ties between the two countries," Ms. Maya Kazi said.
A number of students from DU Japanese Studies presented the programme.
