The deceased was identified as Rahim Ullah, son of Abdus Salam of D Block of the camp.
Abul Mansur, officer-in-charge of Ukhia Police Station, said Shahidullah and his associates stabbed Rahim following an altercation around 10 pm, leaving him severely injured.
Other Rohingyas rescued Rahim and took him to a makeshift hospital at Kutupalong camp and then shifted him to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Rezaul Karim, in-charge of Kutupalong Rohingya camp, said he heard the incident but doesn’t know the details.
Forty three Rohingyas were killed in the last two years in internal conflicts of criminal gangs while 32 others died in gunfights with security forces, said Police Superintendent of Cox’s Bazar ABM Masud Hossain.
Bangladesh is now hosting over 1.1 million Rohingyas most of whom entered the country since August 25, 2017. The two countries signed a repatriation deal on November 23, 2017, but there has been little progress.
