Besides, as part of making the existing good relation between the two border forces stronger, a seven-member delegation of BGB-run Simanta Paribar Kallyan Samity (SPKS) headed by its chairperson Shoma Islam will also sit in a meeting with BSF-run BSF Wives Welfare Association (BWWA) to discuss on issues of mutual interests.
BGB director general Major General Md Shafeenul Islam will lead a 14-member Bangladesh delegation in the conference, while his counterpart BSF DG KK Sharma will led 20-member Indian delegation.
As part of the conference, a friendly Busked match participated by the members of the two border forces is scheduled to be held in New Delhi on September 6.
The border conference will conclude through signing a Joint Record of Discussion (JRD) on September 7, said BGB Headquarters’ Public Relation Officer Md Mohsin Reza adding that the Bangladesh delegation will return home on September 8.
Like previous DG-level border talks, the Bangladesh side will give more importance on stopping border killings in this conference. Besides various border-related issues, such as the smuggling of illegal drugs, including phensidyle, wine and hemp, as well as arms and ammunition, increasing of areas of ‘Crime Free Zone’, and various steps for enhancing mutual confidence between the two border forces are likely to come up for discussion, the BGB PRO said.
The DG BGB is expected to pay a courtesy call with Indian Home Minister and concerned secretary on the sideline of the conference.
