The High Court on Tuesday cleared the way for continuation of the trial proceedings in a money-laundering case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) against former BNP MP Hafiz Ibrahim.
The HC bench of Justice Obaidul Hassan and Justice AKM Zahirul Huq came up with the order after hearing a petition filed for quashing the case proceedings.
Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan stood for the ACC while Barrister M Amir-Ul Islam argued for Hafiz Ibrahim.
The ACC lawyer said the case is now under trial at the Dhaka Special Court-3.
He said there is no bar to continuation of the trial proceedings with the High Court order.
Ibrahim filed a petition with the High Court in November 2018.
The ACC filed the case with Gulshan Police Station on August 16, 2011 against Hafiz and his wife Mafruza for laundering US$1.75 lakh to Singapore.
