Narayanganj, Oct 2 (UNB) – Detectives arrested a businessman and his two associates along with Tk 1.25 crore in cash and 2,000 Yaba pills from his house at Rasulpur in Rupganj upazila early Wednesday.

The arrestees are Jamal Hossain and his accomplices Mostafa and Manik.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Detective Branch of police launched a drive at Jamal’s house in the early hours.

During the drive, they recovered Tk 1 crore from a trunk and Tk 25 lakh from an almirah at his residence on the 2nd floor of a four-storey building.

Later, they recovered 2,000 Yaba tablets from his office on the ground floor.

Superintendent of Police of the district Harunur Rashid at a press briefing at his office around 1pm said the money might have been gathered for Hundi.  

Jamal runs three coal factories and none of them has any valid documents, he said.
