A 16-year-old boy died while trying to lift a bag that had slipped from his friend's hand while boarding a train at Birganjpur Station in Dinajpur on Tuesday.
The deceased, Bakul Hossain, was the son of Mehedul Islam of Habibpur area of Birganjpur. He was a student of class nineat Habibpur Dakhil Madrasa.
Birganjpur Police Station Sub-Inspector Mamunur Rashid confirmed the matter.

The victim's uncle, Hamidur Rahman, said around 9:30 am, Bakul and several of his friends were waiting to board the Chilahati Express train to their destination. At this time, a bag slipped from the hand of a friend and fell below.
Bakul was trying to hand the bag back to his friend. At this time, he was hit by a bogie of the Panchagarh Express train running on line number 2 and was thrown away. He was was rescued and taken to Birganjpur Upazila Health Complex, where duty doctors declared him dead.
Dr Jannatun Ferdous, a doctor at Birganjpur Upazila Health Complex, said that he died due to severe chest injuries before being brought to the hospital.

Birganjpur Railway Station Master Anand Kumar Chakraborty said that around 9:30 am, the Chilahati Express train was waiting at platform-1 of the station for the crossing of the Panchagarh Express train. At this time, Bakul was hit by a bogie of the Panchagarh Express train running on line-2 and was thrown away.
The post-mortem report was prepared and the body was handed over to the family, said the SI.
