The entire gang involved in the machete attack on a couple in Uttara has been arrested, according to the Deputy Police Commissioner (DC) of the Uttara Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Rownak Jahan.
Speaking at a press conference at the DMP Media Center on Wednesday, Rownak Jahan said, “The members of a teenage gang attacked the couple with a sharp weapon after they protested against the gang's reckless motorcycle driving. All the members of the gang have been identified and arrested.”

The incident occurred on Monday night (February 17) at around 10:30 pm, when the couple was attacked. Two of the assailants were caught by locals and handed over to the Uttara West Police Station after being beaten.
Mohammad Hafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Uttara West Police Station, said, “Members of the teen gang were driving their motorcycles at high speed inside the Uttara sector, and were about to run over a child. When the couple, traveling on another motorcycle, protested the incident, the gang members called others and attacked the couple with sharp weapons.”
