Research Fellow at BASIS and CEO of EHL Market Intel Enamul Hafiz Latifee urged aspiring South Asian nations to embrace the '8 by 4 formula' gleaned from Bangladesh's ICT journey at the 7th Nepal-Bangladesh Youth Conclave and 3rd Bangabandhu Youth Conference on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) & Climate Change.
Held at the Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu on 19 December, the event fostered collaboration and innovation for a sustainable future.
Commending Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's 'Vision 2021,' Latifee unveiled key insights into Bangladesh's ICT transformation, presenting a renewed 'Vision 2041' and its regional implications. The discussion, graced by Bangladesh Ambassador to Nepal, Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury, united Bangladeshi and Nepali delegates.
Latifee delved into ICT export trends, HR capacity, successful implementation of international and domestic ICT projects, fiscal incentives, skills development initiatives, the Smart Bangladesh Vision, and the macroeconomic landscape shaped by the home-grown ICT sector. Addressing post-LDC graduation challenges, he called for collaboration in establishing an innovation ecosystem and stressed the importance of leveraging ICT for enhanced power and energy sector efficiency, reducing carbon emissions.
Highlighting the '8 by 4 formula,' Latifee proposed smart technologies to drive socio-economic changes, aligning with UN SDGs. The formula aimed to conserve the environment while addressing common South Asian priorities of economic growth, employment creation, and poverty reduction.
The conclave underscored a commitment to collaborative approaches in addressing shared challenges.
