Egyptian Ambassador to Bangladesh Omar Fahmy paid a courtesy call to Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury at the latter’s office here in the city.
During the meeting, they discussed different issues of mutual interest, bilateral parliamentary relations between the two countries, parliamentary alliance groups, parliamentary activities and development of the two countries.

The Speaker said the Bangladesh-Egypt parliamentary friendship group can be formed during the current 12th parliament of Bangladesh as it would play an important role in maintaining good relations between the people of both the countries.
She said the two countries will benefit from mutual cooperation and exchange of experience and visits of parliamentarians following the formation of the friendship group.
The ambassador said Egypt sincerely believes that Bangladesh is their friendly country. Egypt and Bangladesh have a historical relationship.

He requested the Bangladesh National Parliament to stand by Egypt.
The Egyptian envoy congratulated Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on her reelection as the Speaker, said a Parliament release.
