Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Friday handed over Eid bonus cheques for the conservancy workers of city corporations across the country.
The cheques were handed over to the administrators and mayors of different city corporations at the BNP Chairman’s Gulshan office in the evening, Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon said.
“The Prime Minister handed over Eid bonus cheques for the conservancy workers of all city corporations to the respective administrators and mayors,” he said.

Rumon said Tarique Rahman also directed the city corporation authorities to keep their cities clean and well-maintained.
“He asked them to work towards building clean cities and to ensure regular cleaning of canals and drains to prevent waterlogging in urban areas,” the additional press secretary said.
Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and State Minister Mir Shahe Alam were present at the programme.
Administrators and mayors from 13 city corporations, including Dhaka North, Dhaka South, Chattogram, Rajshahi, Barishal, Khulna and Sylhet, attended the event.
Ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr this year, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman also provided Tk 5,000 as Eid gifts for the city corporation sanitation workers.
