The government has approved the procurement of 1.10 crore (110 million) litres of rice bran oil for its ongoing Open Market Sale (OMS) programme.
The approval came at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP), chaired by Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed. The Ministry of Commerce placed the proposal at the meeting.
According to the proposal, the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) will purchase the bulk edible oil from four local firms that secured the contract through an open tender process.
Under the deal, Majumder Products Ltd will supply 50 lakh litres of rice bran oil, while Tamim Agro Industries Ltd, Prodhan Oil Mills Limited, and Green Oil & Poultry Feed Industries will each supply 20 lakh litres.
Govt to import LNG, fertiliser, lentil to meet the domestic demands
The total cost of the procurement is Tk 177.10 crore, with each litre priced at Tk 161.
The committee also approved a proposal from the state-run Petrobangla to import one LNG cargo from the international spot market through a global quotation process.
Gunvor Singapore Pte. Ltd won the contract and will supply the cargo at a cost of Tk 584.16 crore.
