Amar Bangladesh Party, AB Party, held a protest meeting and rally on Saturday morning at Bijoy71 square demanding resignation of the government, handover of power to an interim election-time government to hold a free, fair, credible and participatory election.
A moment of ending, the meeting came under heavy handed attacks from police with lethal weapons; AB Party condemned indiscriminate and unprovoked use of lethal weapons like rubber bullets and live ammunitions which were simply unwarranted for.

AFM Solaiman Chowdhury, Convenor of AB Party and a retired bureaucrat, presided over the protest meeting where Prof. Dr. Abdul Wahab Minar, Advocate Tajul Islam, Joint Convenors, Mojibur Rahman Monju, Member Secretary, Asaduzzaman Fuaad, Zubair Ahmed Bhuiyan, both barrister-at-law and Joint Member Secretary spoke, amongst others, at the event.
The AB Party’s leaders have condemned the attack on the peaceful rally of BNP and other parties. The AB Party’s peaceful meeting was also attacked where dozens of its leader and activists injured. The AB Party declared solidarity with BNP’s strike (Hartal).
