BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Friday labeled Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami as an ‘extremist party’ and held Awami League responsible for its rise.
“Whatever growth Jamaat has seen today is because of Awami League. Their oppressive rule, denying opposition parties the ability to function and isolating them has led to this situation,” Fakhrul said talking to reporters at his residence in Thakurgaon.
People have already rejected them and BNP has secured more than a two-thirds majority, he said.
“The people will once again be able to curb all anti-progressive forces through fair, honest, and welfare-oriented politics.” he added.
Fakhrul recalled BNP’s long-standing struggle against the ‘fascist governments’ over the past 15 years and before that, emphasizing that the party has always worked for the welfare of people and remained close to them.
“BNP is one of the most popular parties in the country. I have said before that BNP will achieve a landslide victory in this election,” he said.
He also expressed gratitude to voters for BNP’s overwhelming electoral victory.
