Information and Broadcasting Minister Hasan Mahmud has said that the BNP’s aversion to elections coupled with its inclination towards 'forced decisions', has transformed the party into a mere tool for individual interests.
He made the remarks during a gathering commemorating the 93rd birth anniversary of Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib.
The senior AL leader also asserted the BNP was teetering on the brink of collapse, and warned that should they choose to boycott the upcoming election, it would be met with a dire fate.

Highlighting the BNP's current situation, Mahmud said, “The BNP finds itself in a position where it cannot even participate in parliamentary elections, upazila elections, nor elect members for the Union Parishad or city councilors. I challenge their leaders and workers – what prevents them from being reduced to mere pawns under Tariq Rahman's influence? How can a party that avoids all forms of elections be effective?"
Hasan, also the AL Joint General Secretary further said, "As long as Tariq Rahman remains unable to secure electoral victories, the entire BNP is bound by this policy. However, if the BNP chooses to boycott the forthcoming election, they will realize the consequences of their leaders' and workers' actions."
He directed a message to the senior leaders of the BNP, questioning the sustainability of their current approach.

"By adhering to imposed decisions, the BNP is precariously perched on the edge. If they continue with their boycott strategy, they are destined to fall into an abyss," he said.
Addressing the BNP's foreign interactions, he said that the party's recent protests and acts of arson failed to yield any foreign support.
"For years, the BNP sought aid from foreign sources, yet they eventually realized that their pleas for backing their caretaker government were in vain. Foreign representatives, including US Undersecretary Uzra Zaya and European Union delegates, did not voice any support for the BNP's demands during their visits."
