The Ambassador of Germany to Bangladesh, Dr. Rudiger Lotz, paid a courtesy call on Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed at his office in the Bangladesh Secretariat this (Thursday) afternoon.
During the meeting, they discussed various issues of mutual interest, including strengthening bilateral relations through increased cooperation between the two countries.
Terming Germany as one of Bangladesh's key development partners, the Home Minister highlighted Germany's ongoing support in various sectors, including renewable energy, climate change mitigation, the textile and ready-made garments (RMG) industry, and technical and vocational education.

Minister Salahuddin Ahmed sought Germany's cooperation in enhancing the capacity building and modernization of the Bangladesh Police force, as well as providing technical and training support for maintaining law and order. In response, the Ambassador assured continued bilateral cooperation across various sectors and expressed optimism that the relationship between the two nations would reach new heights in the near future, says a press release on Thursday evening.
At the commencement of the meeting, the Minister welcomed the Ambassador. The Ambassador extended his sincere congratulations to the Minister on assuming his important new portfolio.
The meeting was attended, among others, by Senior Home Secretary Manzur Morshed Chowdhury, Deputy Secretary (Political-1 Section) of the Home Ministry Begum Minara Nazmin and Deputy Secretary (Immigration-3 Section) Mohammed Abul Kalam.
