Police arrested two persons along with a foreign pistol, ammunition and a private car during a raid in the capital’s Khilgaon area on Sunday morning.
The arrestees were identified as Md Safayet Hossain alias Sentu, 44, and Md Sabuj alias Emon, 25.
Deputy Commissioner (Media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Talibur Rahman said, acting on a tip-off, a team from Khilgaon thana police conducted a drive around 6:30 am in the Shekher Jaiga area and detained the persons.
Police said they had received information that the suspects were staying suspiciously in the area with a private car. based on the information, police carried out the raid and arrested them।
During the operation, law enforcers recovered a foreign-made pistol, four rounds of bullets, a magazine and the private car from their possession.
A case has been filed against them under the Arms Act with Khilgaon Police Station.
Police sources said the arrestees are active members of an organized criminal gang.
Safayet has four cases against him, including murder, arms and narcotics-related offences, while Sabuj has two cases filed against him for robbery and theft.
The arrestees have been sent to court, police added.
