Traders came under attack on Monday while staging an anti-extortion human chain in the capital’s Karwan Bazar area. According to witnesses, around 150 to 200 people, under the banner of ‘Islamia Shanti Samity’, formed a human chain in front of the Karwan Bazar Kitchen Market at about 11:00am as part of a pre-announced programme protesting extortion. At one stage, a group of people armed with sticks allegedly attacked the demonstrators around 11:45 pm, triggering a chase and counter-chase in the area.
