Opposition MPs stage walkout as JS heats up over July Memorial Museum Bill
The opposition parties in the Jatiya Sangshad staged a walkout on Friday evening, levelling serious allegations of a "breach of trust" against the ruling government.
Led by the Leader of the Opposition, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, opposition lawmakers exited the House at approximately 7:35 PM.
The walkout followed a heated and prolonged debate between the treasury and opposition benches regarding the passage of the July Memorial Museum Bill in amended form.
Before leading the walkout, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman expressed deep disappointment, claiming the government had bypassed consensus reached during special committee meetings.
"We are walking out of the Parliament today with a heavy heart," the Opposition Leader stated.
"The government has violated the understanding reached in the special committee by passing the July Memorial Museum Bill in its current amended form, which constitutes a clear breach of trust."
The protest was not limited to the treasury benches.

Dr. Rahman also raised sharp objections against Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad accusing him of losing his neutrality and failing to provide a fair platform for the opposition's grievances.
This incident marks the fourth walkout by the opposition in the current session, highlighting a deepening rift and increasing volatility within the parliament.
The July Memorial Museum Bill, intended to preserve the history of the July uprising, has become a flashpoint for political friction, with the opposition claiming that the final version of the bill does not reflect the bipartisan agreements made behind closed doors.
