Chattogram, Sept 30 (UNB) - About 200 students from two schools of the city participated in interactive sessions on reproductive health and puberty on Monday.
The programme, titled 'Project Scarlet: Emerging' was arranged by IFMSA (International Federation of Medical Students Association) Bangladesh, a medical students body with support from international women’s organization Inner Wheel’s District 345 at two separate schools in the Port City.
The participants were given lessons about reproductive health through documentary presentations, animations and role play simulations at Chittagong Municipal Model High School and Aparnacharan City Corporation Girls' High School.
Interactive discussion and quiz contests were also held to evaluate students’ knowledge about reproductive health. The girls were provided with free sanitary napkins to inspire them to maintain menstrual hygiene.
Angela Boishakhi Mendes, vice chairman of Inner Wheel District 345, said such programmes should take place more often to make more adolescents aware about reproductive health and puberty.
Chowdhury Tonny Toruneema Billah, Head of the Standing Committee on Sexual and Reproductive Health and AIDS (SCORA), IFMSA BD said they want to see the young population practicing, confident and aware about sexual and reproductive health and rights so that they can contribute to the community, society and country.
