Police have recovered the body of a Pathao driver from Tongi’s Turag River.

The deceased was identified as Sharif Hossain, son of Faruk Miah. He was a resident of Tongi’s Ershad Nagar area.

According to Sharif’s family Rifat was missing since Monday afternoon after he was allegedly called and taken to Polashona area under Gacha Police Station by two people named Shohag and Kajol of Tongi’s Ershad Nagar area.

Rifat’s family started searching the area after he didn’t return at night. Later, his motorcycle was located in Palashona area of Gachha police station through GPS tracker.

Despite extensive search efforts in the Palashona area, Rifat’s family was unable to find him even though his motorcycle has been recovered.

SI Sabbir Hossain of Tongi East Police Station said the police rushed to spot upon receiving the information and recovered Rifat's body from Turag River with the help of Gacha police station and Fire Brigade’s rescue team. The body was later sent to the morgue for autopsy.

Legal action is being taken in this regard, he said.
