A 30-year-old man was killed in Dhaka’s Jatrabari area early Thursday after being hit by a covered van following an altercation with its driver.
The deceased, Sujan Sarkar, worked as a helper for a Green Line Paribahan bus and was the son of Gopal Chandra Sarkar.
The incident began late Wednesday night when a Green Line Paribahan bus traveling from Khagrachhari to Dhaka became stuck in traffic at Matuail. According to Sub-Inspector Emran Hossain of Jatrabari Police Station, the bus’s side mirror was smashed by a covered van, sparking a heated argument between Sujan and the van driver.
During the altercation, the van driver attempted to flee the scene but hit Sujan in the process, leaving him critically injured.
Sujan was rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead around 3:10 am.

Police are actively searching for the driver of the covered van, who fled after the incident.
