Covid-19: 21 officials of Social Services Department infected


Altogether 21 officials of the Department of Social Services were infected with coronavirus while performing duties across the country as of Monday.

All of the infected officials are undergoing treatment at home and several hospitals across the country, said a press release.

The Social Services Department has been working under the Social Ministry at the district and upazila level.

The press release said under the social safety net programme, the department has distributed various allowances of Tk 26.5 crore among 80.9 lakh people until the month of June.

Besides, the department has distributed food assistance and cash money among 276,673 people in Chattogram, Dhaka, Rangpur, Barishal, Khulna, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Sylhet divisions including some in Dhaka City.

Health authorities have so far confirmed 68,504 coronavirus case and 930 deaths from Covid-19 disease.
