The duration will depend on BNP movement's violent character
Dhaka North Metropolitan Awami League Unit started holding continuous protest rally and sit-ins in response to the "anarchy and arson" carried out by BNP and Jamaat from Monday.
The decision for the protest programme was declared by Unit President Bazlur Rahman yesterday in a meeting at its office in the city's Tejgaon area.
They arranged a protest rally in four wards today while they will cover all wards in phases.
Earlier, the Metropolitan North Awami League announced that it would hold a peace rally at Agargaon in the capital, but cancelled it. They are holding protest rally instead of peace rally.
Praloy Samaddar Bappi (Office Secretary, Metropolitan North Awami League), who is in charge of the rally of Awami League in Kafrul thana's ward 94 told UNB that the protest rally will continue as long as BNP holds violent programmes.
Dhaka Metropolitan North Awami League President Sheikh Bazlur Rahman told UNB that BNP has reverted to its old character.
"We will be in the field for 150 days. In that continuation, protest marches and sit-in programs will continue in the upcoming days ensuring the participation of all associate bodies of our party," he said.
