Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) early Saturday arrested a man as he allegedly threw acid on his wife in Kumorpur village of Godagari upazila in Rajshahi.
The arrestee was identified as Murad Hossain, 30, son of Rafikul Islam of Kumorpur village.
ATM Mainul Islam, Company commander of Rab-5, said Murad launched the attack while his wife was at her parents' home, burning her face completely early Friday.
Victim’s mother saw Murad fleeing after the attack, Mainul Islam said.
Murad was arrested from his house early Saturday.
The victim was admitted to the Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital.
Murad apparently launched the barbaric attack as his wife was planning to annul their marriage. She had been staying at her parents for the past four months, said Officer-in-Charge of Godagari Police Station.
