The Parliamentary Special Committee on Constitution Amendment will prepare its report by December 2026, according to a decision taken at its third meeting on Sunday.
The meeting was held at the Cabinet Room of the Sangsad Bhaban with committee Chairman and Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed in the chair.
Editors of various national dailies and representatives of the National Press Club and news agencies also attended the meeting and placed their proposals on various issues related to the amendment of the Constitution, according to a press release.
The parliamentary body requested those who have any written proposals on the issue beyond their discussion at the meeting to send those to the committee.
The special committee of the 13th parliament will invite representatives of different sections of society and the state to its next meetings for discussions on constitutional amendment.
During the meeting, it was noted that the committee would prepare its report on the proposed constitutional amendments by December 2026.
Committee members -- Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Home Affairs Ministry Zainul Abedin, State Minister for Planning Md. Zonayed Abdur Rahim Saki, State Minister for Land Mir Mohammed Helal Uddin, State Minister for Social Welfare Farzana Sharmin, Shakila Farzana and Md Mahmudul Hoque Rubel attended the meeting.
Parliament Secretary Barrister Md Golam Sorwar Bhuiyan and high officials from the Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Ministry were present at the meeting.
