Police have identified the body of an unknown teenage girl found abandoned near Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) and arrested three suspects in connection with the death on early Thursday.
The victim was identified as Mim Akhter, 15.
The arrestees are A.B.M. Abdur Razzak,47, Md. Faisal Ahmed,35, and Rahema Khatun Reshma,29.
A special team from Shahbagh Police Station apprehended the trio from the capital's Demra area around 5:10 AM following a tech-based investigation.
According to police, locals spotted the girl's body lying near the DMCH emergency department on August 12 and informed the police. Shahbagh police initially filed an unnatural death case on August 13 and formed a special team to uncover the mystery behind her death.
Primary investigations revealed that the suspects abandoned Mim's body at the hospital to cover up the homicide. To evade arrest, they fled from their residence in the Sanarpar area of Siddhirganj, Narayanganj, overnight with their families.
Niaz Mehedi, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said a regular case is being filed at Siddhirganj Police Station while the investigation continues.
