Ensure more transparency, accountability: President to PSC

President Abdul Hamid on Tuesday asked Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) to ensure more accountability and transparency in its overall activities.
“Ensure more transparency and accountability in overall activities. At the same time, take necessary steps to hold PSC recruitment tests within the shortest possible time,” he said when a PSC delegation handed over the annual report-2019 to him at Bangabhaban in the afternoon.
President's Press Secretary Joynal Abedin briefed reporters after the meeting.
The PSC delegation, led by its Chairman Dr Muhammed Sadique, apprised the President of the overall activities of the commission, including different development planning, as well as various aspects of the report.
The PSC chairman informed the President that the commission has arranged trained Rover Scouts to help the specially-abled examinees as writers in BCS recruitment tests.
He said the commission in the meantime sent a proposal with necessary legal frameworks, infrastructure and manpower to the Public Administration Ministry in this regard.
Dr Sadique informed the President that a total of 67,471 successful candidates, including 31,437 cadres and 36,034 non-cadres, were recommended for jobs in the competitive PSC examinations in different categories from 2009 to 2019.
Besides, the PSC introduced 50 marks on the history of freedom struggle and Liberation War in the written test, he added.
The President expressed satisfaction at the overall activities of the commission.
Secretaries concerned to the President were also present.
