Newly-appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Benazir Ahmed met Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain on Tuesday.
During the meeting at his residence, the Chief Justice congratulated new IGP and wished him every success and wellbeing, said Assistant Inspector General (AIG-Media) of the Police Headquarters Md Sohel Rana.
The IGP sought overall cooperation from Chief Justice for carrying out his duties.
High officials of the Supreme Court and police department were present at the meeting.
The government on April 8 appointed Dr Benazir Ahmed, immediate past director general of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab), as the new IGP. He took charge of office on April 15.
Dr Benazir served as the Rab director general since January 2015.
He joined Bangladesh Police as an assistant superintendent of police in February 1988. He served in various capacities of the force and proved his professionalism, dedication and excellence.
