The exchange rate of the US dollar has been fixed at Tk108.5 for inward remittances and Tk107 for exports.

As a result, the remitters will get Tk111 per dollar including the government declared 2.5 percent incentive. The rate will be effective from Thursday (June 1, 2023).

The previous rate of US dollar for remitters was Tk108 (excluding the 2.5 percent incentive) and Tk 106 for exporters.

This decision was taken in a joint meeting of the Association of Bankers Bangladesh (ABB) and the Bangladesh Foreign Exchange Dealers' Association (BAFEDA) on Wednesday.

The meeting was held at the head office of Sonali Bank and attended by the chairman of BAFEDA and the managing director (MD) and CEO of Sonali Bank  Afzal Karim, Chairman of ABB and Managing Director (MD) of BRAC Bank Salim RF Hossain and Managing Directors of different commercial banks.
