Daniel Craig and Cillian Murphy are in talks to star in Oscar-winning director Damien Chazelle’s next film, an untitled project for Paramount Pictures.
Chazelle, known for “La La Land,” will write and direct the film, while also producing it with Olivia Hamilton through their company, Wild Chickens Productions.
While plot details remain under wraps, the film is reportedly a prison-set drama and could begin production later this year if Craig and Murphy finalize their deals, according to Variety.
This marks another collaboration between Chazelle and Paramount, which backed his previous film, “Babylon.” That star-studded, showbiz-themed drama featuring Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie struggled at the box office, earning $63 million globally against $80 million budget.
Chazelle’s past works include the critically acclaimed “Whiplash” and “First Man.”

In 2022, he signed a first-look deal with Paramount. The studio had announced in last year that Chazelle was developing a biopic on stunt performer Evel Knievel, with Leonardo DiCaprio attached. However, the director pivoted after DiCaprio exited the project.
Craig, who stepped down from the James Bond franchise, will soon appear in Rian Johnson’s third “Knives Out” film and Greta Gerwig’s “Narnia.”
Murphy recently won an Oscar for his role in Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer.”
