Gonoforum on Thursday demanded the formation of a national committee with the most competent experts to prevent corruption in the country’s health sector.
In a joint statement, Gonoforum President Dr Kamal Hossain and General Secretary Dr Reza Kibria also suggested the government to ensure good coordination in its activities for containing coronavirus with the help of the national committee.
“It must be ensured that people are not subjected to harassment while receiving treatment. The supply of food, medicines and other essential things must be ensured in the areas being marked as red zones,” the statement said.
The Gonoforum leaders also said the government needs to take all necessary measures swiftly to save the lives of people as coronavirus has turned into a serious pandemic in the country.
They said the government also must take steps for ensuring adequate testing labs, oxygen and ventilator support alongside adequate beds at the hospitals for the corona-infected people.
The Gonoforum leaders expressed deep shock over deaths of many doctors from the deadly virus.
They urged the government to take all the necessary measures to protect doctors and health workers and thus keep the healthcare services functional.
