JFA Football: Magura clinch title beating Rangpur 3-1 in final


Magura District clinched the JFA U-14 National Women's Football Championship title beating Rangpur District by 3-1 goals in the final at the Muktijoddha Smriti Stadium in Rajshahi on Monday.

Nabiron Khatun struck twice in the 20th and 48th minutes while Arpita Biswas netted the remaining goal for the champions in the 64th minute.

Khadiza scored the lone goal for the runners up Rangpur in the 14th minute.

Later, the captain of Magura team Nabiron Khatun was adjudged best player of the final.

Besides, Suborna Khatun of Magura was adjudged  as the best player, Arpita Biswas of Magura named as the highest scorer (9 goals), Reshme Akhter of Rangpur named as the best promising player of the tournament. Host Rajshahi District team won the Fair Play Trophy.

Rajshahi City Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton witnessed the day's final as the chief guest and later he distributed the trophies.

Earlier in the semifinals, Rangpur District eliminated hosts Rajshahi District by 2-0 goals while Magura District outplayed Gaibandha District by 4-0 goals.
